Casey Matthews, Ph.D. is a 20-year veteran in education. She has taught all grades from 7th to collegiate level but loves working with her 9th graders the most.

Casey’s research interests center around decolonizing and diversifying the current English Language Art curriculum in secondary education, and her expertise is in designing inclusive and representative curriculum in ELA courses. Her scholarship also focuses on the sensemaking process of teachers when selecting curriculum for their class within federal, state, and local policies and limitations.

Casey has a Master’s degree in English from the University of New Orleans, and a Ph.D in Urban Education with an emphasis on K12 learning and development from Cleveland State University.
